Im Back!

Hey Guys!

Sorry for the lack of Updates! Its been so long I know! Ok first off, I took a week off and went to NYC for a week. I had a blast! Ran into a bunch of old friends, made some new ones, Drank amazing coffee, Life was good. 🙂

On the flip side….

My Uncle passed away the day before my trip, and my parents were both vacationing in Europe so I had to try to sort things out for them while they made last minute arrangements to come back to the states to attend the funeral. Not gonna lie, it was pretty chaotic on my end. But then again, Funerals are never convenient for anyone.

I took some pretty Sick beatings at the table last month, Not all of it was done on this computer though so I don’t have the most accurate graphs to show you. My high point last month was making it to 3,000 on the bankroll! But then the Beat down happened and before I knew it, I was down to $2400. Gross..

But I hit the books, and decided that I wasn’t balancing enough. Which was true. I mean I’m playing $36 HUSNGS and to me I’m thinking that those are still medium stakes and balancing isn’t super important there. BUT then I realized, I’m playing High Stakes Regulars that are playing lower stakes to them because they don’t get any action higher up. Im not gonna say that balancing was some kind of miracle cure to my game, BUT Its definitely working out better for me. Currently my Bankroll is…..

which means July was a month in the Black :). Im starting a lot of work this month and I really Hope I can continue to do well at the tables even though Ill be back to a regular schedule of 12-14hour days. July Results

Its not the prettiest Graph but dont worry, this story has an happy ending I promise!

Hope everyones doing well, and Ill do my best to provide more content in the upcoming Future!

No Prisoners Taken

Hey Guys!

Bankroll is at

Meaning Best weak at the tables so far in this challenge!

A lot of it has to do with Patience. This week I really stuck to my guns about playing Regs. I know its common sense but I realized if my goal is to move up stakes, then I really shouldn’t be trying to establish myself against the regs at the stakes I play. I should focus more on playing the fish. And it payed off. 🙂 I released 2 videos this week, One was serious, the Other was kinda a scrap video that went short, but still there’s some decent content. If anyone has any questions or comments about my play feel free to comment or let me know what you think. Ill try to do more in the future. 🙂 Im sure you can tell but I’m having a lot of fun doing the Photoshops for all the videos haha I really love the lost in space one I did.

Im very Happy with my play overall. Ive been starting every day with a Routine of making breakfast, making coffee, and reviewing notes and flashcards Ive made of lines and pushing ranges that I should go by. Flash cards are great, Im a firm believer that no ones a “natural” at anything, and if you want to be great or amazing, you have to put in the time. Studying is so crucial to moving up stakes. Currently Im playing the $36’s and the $24’s exclusively. But if my Bankroll permits me in a couple weeks, I hope to be playing the $60 Husngs. Then the games should get really interesting. The higher I climb up in stakes, the less fish there are, and more competent players, Players that have been coached, and people that pay rent playing poker. Should be fun!

Hope all is well!

The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street

Hey Guys!

So Bankroll climbed up to……..

Which although I am Happy with, I was really Hoping to be at 3k by today. This week, I tried to practice only playing Solid players in a best of 3 games scenario. I think that should cut down on the variance of swings a bit for me. Especially since Im still working on climbing stakes. I played mostly the $24 and $36 Husngs this month.

I had such a good start to this month! Hopefully My July can swing into gear. I know I have some work lined up as well as a trip to NY around the corner.

On the bright side:

I got my FTP Refund Check in the mail last week! I didnt even get notified, I was depositing into my savings account and noticed the balance was much bigger than it should be. I went to look at the transaction history and BOOM, Deposit from the DOJ. Im not gonna lie, I never thought Id see a penny of that money. Its like this huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulder. So then I go on Cardrunners to see if anyone else is in this boat with me. And a Friend makes a comment that Juicy Stakes Poker has a new Owner and we can cashout now. When FTP died, I created an account on Cake poker, because at the time they had a good reputation and seemed like good software. But after a year, they emailed me and told me they had transferred my account to a site called “Juicy Stakes” which looked like a ghetto version of Cake poker. I ran $200 into a sizable Bankroll and tried to withdrawal. And they kept my money Pending for 9 months! Finally I emailed them very angrily for a month, and they put the money back into my account. I haven’t played on the site or checked my balance ever since.

Flash forward to today.

I requested a Juicy Stakes cash out (Max is 1k, and they charge $100 check cutting fee, 3 checks allowed per month) and 4 days later they email me saying

“Dear Valued Customer,

Please be advised that your cashout request has now been processed and the Check will arrive in 3 to 5 days at your mailing address on record with Juicy Stakes by courier. Never mention online poker when talking to your bank about this Check please. Kindly note that the Check will be sent from a Canadian Bank.

Should you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,
Juicy Stakes Support”

Obviously that seems super shady but seriously I never thought Id see this money either so what can I do.

Anywho the bank worked out great, and now starts the long process of doing 3 checks a month for a while.

The above pic is my stats for the month. The $36 level is a bit skewed and Break Even IMO, I played mostly Regs just so they might be discouraged from sitting me in future sessions. Hopefully that strat pays off. Also the $12 level isn’t anything dramatic, In previous Months Ive been running like God at those stakes so this must be the other side of the coin.

I have lots to do in July, but Ill do my best to try to record a couple vids for the health of the blogs sake, Hope everyone is doing well!

Busy Week

Hey Guys!

Starting it off with My Bankroll…..

its at $2129.79

Obviously not a big improvement like previous weeks, in fact I think Its around $90 profit for the week. Theres a lot of factors as to why its where it is.

Ill list them in Order of Importance

1)I had a killer first 3 days of the week, I jumped up $390 profit and was looking to have the best week on this blog yet. But then I started playing a Reg, which led to Heads Up Warfare, He was playing well and running well, and one thing led to another, and all my profit slid away. I decided in future matches, Ill just play him 2 out of 3, and if he wins Ill do my best to find a different opponent.

2) I decided that even though I’m sick, I couldn’t turn work down anymore and had to put in about 60+hrs of film making work this week. I got lucky, I got handed some really fun projects.

3) When I get home from said jobs, its roughly 8-10pm and all the fish have gone to bed. So I’m stuck playing regs. Although I do enjoy playing Regs, I enjoy playing New people a whole lot more. I don’t wanna sound like a broken record about mentioning the regs so ill stop.

Im only working 4 days this week though, So Im gonna try to do a video or 2 of me playing the $24 and $36 stake level. I know Im super overdue on that. Thanks for stopping by!

Ojo De La Tigre

Hey Kids!

Alright Starting things off with….

My Current Bankroll is $2038.57

And we Aint stopping. This Car came with a full gas tank and no brakes.

Had a Mediocre week at the tables. Just played $24 HUSNGs I played a couple $60 cuz I saw it was this reg that was dodging me and I wanted to send him a message, but the rest of the week I stuck to the $24’s.Capture

I started the week off really well. But then I started getting Bum Hunted by a new reg. Ive played him before but I decided that the best course of action was to play him til he quit me, he started off strong, won around 5 buy ins in some cooler situations mixed with bad calls on my end. So my duel started off 6-2 , but I stuck with him, and later we pushed it to 14-9, still convinced that variance was helping him as well as tightening up some of my looser calls that may have had poor judgement. I stuck with him and turned things around, I started crushing him, and tied it up 17-17, in fact the last 5 of those games I played so aggressive that when I finally tied him at 17-17 he snap quit me. I don’t think he’ll be sitting me for a couple weeks at least, and if he does, I have pages of notes now against him.

I wanted to show you some fun calls I did without a hand. I think In both of these I made the call solely on the fact my opponents weren’t thinking of the range their representing.

WPN, $24 Buy-in (10/20 blinds) No Limit Hold’em Tournament, 2 Players
Poker Tools by CardRunners – http://www.cardrunners.com/

Hero (SB): 500 (25 bb)
BB: 500 (25 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Kd Qd
Hero raises to 40, BB calls 20

Flop: (80) Ac 8d 6s (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets 35, BB raises to 80, Hero calls 45

Turn: (240) Jc (2 players)
BB bets 120, Hero calls 120

River: (480) 8c (2 players)
BB bets 260 and is all-in, Hero calls 260 and is all-in

Results: 1,000 pot
Final Board: Ac 8d 6s Jc 8c
Hero showed Kd Qd and won 1,000 (500 net)
BB showed 7h 5s and lost (-500 net)

This ones fun cuz on the turn I was kinda torn between a call or a fold, but when the 8 rolled off on the river, I snap called.  I actually dislike his play, I understand what hes thinking on the turn, but If I call that turn, Im NEVER folding the river, At that point I have just as many club draws as he does in my range, Actually I have more since I still have the Ace of clubs in my range, and he NEVER did. I think hes literally just setting money on fire in that spot with a bluff after the turn play.

Second Hand

WPN, $24 Buy-in (10/20 blinds) No Limit Hold’em Tournament, 2 Players
Poker Tools by CardRunners – http://www.cardrunners.com/

SB: 535 (26.8 bb)
Hero (BB): 465 (23.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Kh 7h
SB completes, Hero raises to 60, SB calls 40

Flop: (120) Jd 7c 3s (2 players)
Hero bets 45, SB calls 45

Turn: (210) Qd (2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets 120, Hero calls 120

River: (450) Ah (2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets 310 and is all-in, Hero calls 240 and is all-in

Results: 930 pot
Final Board: Jd 7c 3s Qd Ah
SB showed 9d 8h and lost (-465 net)
Hero showed Kh 7h and won 930 (465 net)

this ones a bit different.

When he check/calls the flop his range is something like

and In all Honesty this is me being Generous, I feel when I raise PF this guy would probably give me a cute re-raise on the flop something really small with AA or KK, people get greedy like that.  Also I Included QTs to his flop calling range cuz I do think he’d call a small flop bet with something along those lines. I feel like ALL of his weak Jacks except J7 would Re-raise me on the flop  for fear of protection. as well as most of the 7’s in his range would also Re-raise the flop. so as you can see by the photo most of his calling range is Air, with QJ being the only real threat.

so the Qd comes on the turn.

He bets 120……

I tank and rule out all the Jacks in his range, I still beat most of the 7’s that he failed to Re-raise the flop with. so that leaves mostly bluffs that are betting big to scare me off and maybe some hidden monster like AA or KK but Im in the air on if he even plays those premiums that way.  I call and decide if the River is a blank card Im calling him down.

River is the Ace of Hearts.

Now he gives his hand away

He has No Aces in his range except for AA, and there’s even less combos of that when that River ace comes. That Ace is the WORST card for him, and he shoves? any weak 1 pair hands would most likely check or bet small. especially after I call that heavy turn bet. Honestly with His hand after that turn, when the Ace comes he needs to shut down, He cant rep anything and I didn’t believe him on the turn so he really cant force too much of a fold on the river.  his river range looks like River

You see how the bottom of that Picture it says 79 combos? well 66 of those combos I beat.  Thankfully It worked out and Im able to blog to you today about the call. History is only written by the winners right? 🙂

Anywho I’m withing $100 of jumping up stakes this week to the $36 HUSNGs. I look forward to grinding those for a little while. Hopefully they work out.  Thanks for stopping by, and Feel free to throw out a comment,

Things Are Picking up

Still Sick….

I went to the 5th Doctor for the 6th Time today. They did another chest X-ray and apparently the haze in my left lung has since transferred over to my right lung. Blah. I worked for the first day in 2 weeks last night and proceeded to cough the whole night. no fun. There sending me to a lung expert next week and gave me some more antibiotics.

Onto poker

Great week at the $25 HuSNG tables. My Current Bankroll is….

which makes that one of my best weeks yet! for the most part the week went smooth, tho I did go to war on a reg that keeps sitting me. we played for several hours, and although I’m up on him a little he seems very content to play me all day vs fish. I’m fine playing him, in all honesty he calls multiple streets very light and I get a lot of value in spots that I normally wouldn’t get. I just prefer more variety in my opponents, also I don’t want him to get used to how I play and/or correctly asses a way to play against me one day.

I had to work a night shift this week, and as a result couldn’t sleep last night. So I logged on and landed a pretty bad opponent. He would call super light against AI’s no matter the blinds, would min 3bet me in really dangerous spots for him, and generally just put it in bad. It felt great to be lucky enough to hold, and play confidently against someone who was either shot taking or just some action hungry degenerate. I beat him 8-3 and then started to feel tired so I called it a night finally.

Holdem Manager has been acting up a lot on me this week. When I went to war against a reg for a couple hours this week, I was multi tabling, and as a result it merged all my HH files.  So at the end of the day even though I was a little better than Break Even (+$17 for the day) , Hold Em Manager said I was up $403 for that day. I’m not really sure how to correct this so my graph for the month is going to be skewed off sadly.  At least in Reality I’m up $500 from last week, just not up $900 which is what my computer seems to think.  😦

Hope Everyones doing well, Thanks for stopping by!

Supposed to be Looking up, But I find myself Looking In

Hey Guys!

So right of the bat, my Bankroll is at….

Which is up, but in all honesty It was a pretty rough week at the tables. First off Regs, I played prolly all of them. In all honesty though I think its for the better, because half of them stopped sitting my table not necessarily because they were losing, but because their edge just wasn’t there. Back in the day when FTP and Pokerstars were in their prime, The regs would sit down and open a table and the fish would come to the regs. But I think now that poker isn’t as big as it used to be, maybe the regs now don’t know that, and seem to be content with playing tougher players. As is though I still open a table and let the players come to me.

I did have a really good beginning of the week, and ran my bankroll up to $1390, but I had a really wonky last couple of days were none of my hands would hold up. It got really gross and variance laden. Ill show you my graph.

Gross right?

That graph is over some 300 games. Admittedly there’s prolly 10 games in there where I really dislike a play I made or a call I did. Which definitely could have turned the profit around. Ill try to focus more this week and think soundly through my decisions better.

Also I got a chance to study again, I watched some videos took notes and made flash cards. This method has always been the best for me. Especially when I see a video that uses a chart with bullet points. If I flash card it and try to study when I can, It really helps me retain the knowledge.

Its days like these that make me glad I have Rakeback :).

Hope everyone is doing well, and feel free to comment if you have any advice or study tips!

Hey Guys!

Another Great week at the tables!

Current Bankroll is…….

A lot of that is run good, but for the most part of the week I’m pretty happy with my play overall. Its tough though, Im still sick as a dog, and Im getting very tired of playing while I’m having coughing fits. 😦 I look forward to the time when I can click call and not be covering my mouth from coughing.

this is my graph of my month so far. its a little rocky, but overall I’m pretty happy with the way its looking. I switched it up to the $25 HUSNG’S this month. It was a little early in my plans to play them, but I did it for a couple of reasons.

1) A lot of the $12 regs seem really happy just playing regs all day, I don’t care if they bum hunt me, but I know its more profitable if I stay away from them and play fish.

2) Action: I wasn’t getting enough action at the $12 HUSNG’S so I thought I would try the $25’s. Turns out the action isnt better at all, but at least I got to play new screen names, for a while I felt like I was seeing the same 10 people day in and day out.

I plan on staying at the $25 HUSNG level for a bit so my bankroll can catch up to the stakes I play. I need to be careful so the swings of playing a higher limit don’t cripple my bankroll. Its definitely happened before and I like to think Ive learned from my mistakes. Realistically Id like to try to double my Bankroll  at least before I consider bumping up to another stake level.

Hope everyone’s doing well! Thanks for the support!

Things are looking up

So I finished my weekly grind today ending my BR at:

Had a mediocre week, I shot up to $806 then back down to $717  then hit some run good to bring it back up to where it is. Overall Im happy with most of my play. There were moments when I prolly shouldn’t have re matched some people, also I’m still very sick from weeks ago :(. I went to a doctor about my coughing on Friday, the conversation went something like this

Doc : I saw you about a month ago for coughing?

Me: yes, I ran out of your medication and I’m still coughing so i came back

Doc: I see…. It says here that 6 months ago you came in for a cough, and a year ago you came in for a cough.

Me: Ya Ive had a chronic cough when seasons change my whole life

Doc: Well there’s nothing wrong with your lungs so you don’t have asthma, I’m going to send you to a specialist in Nose and Throat.

Ugh so I call this “Specialist” and he must be super busy cuz the earliest appointment i can make is 3 weeks! blahhh.

OK so back to poker

These numbers are a bit more realistic than the run good I had last month, though obviously my $6 results are over avg. There def are still people that are over playing hands and/or not thinking about my range vs their 2 cards. and its definitely my main income source for the moment.

I still make plays though

hands like:

Game started at: 2014/5/18 16:24:19

Player feltburn bets (40)
Player SpaceDog raises (95)
Player feltburn folds
Uncalled bet (55) returned to SpaceDog
Player SpaceDog mucks cards
—— Summary ——
Pot: 160
Board: [2c 2h 4c Kd]
*Player SpaceDog mucks (does not show cards). Bets: 80. Collects: 160. Wins: 80.
Player feltburn does not show cards.Bets: 80. Collects: 0. Loses: 80.
Game ended at: 2014/5/18 16:24:57

Now before you say that what I did was gross. I should mention that I play a lot with this person. on the flop he would min bet any 4 or spade draw.  leaving mostly air and 2’s to check back, on the Turn the King comes. Normally that would be a scare card, especially because he likes to limp med strength hands, But Id noticed 2ice in this match that both K7o and K8s he had shoved for 8 and 9bbs so I really didn’t think the K was part of his range anymore. Also I think if he still had a deuce he would be checking back because I would be more aggro Preflop if I had a King in my hand. So in theory he was attacking my range, but forgot that he really cant rep much except for a 2. I also had been running over him the whole match and might have won the first 15 hands straight, so he was getting pretty frustrated.

Hope everyone’s running good! thanks for stopping by!
